Summary
Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat is saddled with investigation of mysterious death of an actor. His married life is in doldrums since he lost his only son in an accident. The investigation leads Surjan through shady lanes of a red light area, where everyone has a secret. When an escort named Rosie starts helping Surjan on the case, it leads to unravelling of many a secret as well as closure for Surjan.Plot
While Surjan is trying to make a break in the case, the news of death of Armaan Kapoor spreads like a wildfire in a nearby red light area. A pimp named Shashi, who seems to know something, is disturbed by the news. When his deputy named Temur learns that Shashi met Armaan on the same day, he pockets Shashi's old SIM card out of grudge. Surjan's search leads him to Hotel Lido, but he finds nothing. Here, it is revealed that Shashi indeed met Armaan that day and received Rs. 20 lakh from him, but knows nothing about the murder. Shashi is now blackmailing somebody else for the remaining amount.Meanwhile, Surjan's wife Roshni meets a neighbour named Frenny, who surreptitiously pockets the photo of Surjan's son Karan. Later, Surjan runs into Frenny at a society function, who tells him that Karan has some message to give to him. Surjan scolds Frenny and tells her to leave them alone. Later, Surjan gets into a fight with Roshni over Frenny and goes on a drive. There, he meets Rosie for the first time, who gives him an important information regarding the case. Thereafter, Surjan keeps on getting new information on the case whenever he runs into Rosie.
Surjan realizes that Shashi was blackmailing Armaan over something happened three years ago in Hotel Lido, which is connected to Armaan’s death. Surjan meets Mallika and later Temur, but neither has an idea of Shashi's whereabouts. Surjan finds the address of Shashi’s native place, but he is not found. Here, Temur becomes greedy when he learns that Shashi took money from Armaan. He tries to blackmail the person from Shashi’s old SIM. The person is revealed to be Sanjay, Armaan's friend. Following this, Sanjay gets Shashi killed, assuming that latter has become greedy. On learning this, Temur decides to find out the secret Shashi knew. He has Mallika sent back forcefully to prostitution and succeeds in procuring the bag that belonged to Armaan.
He finds a CD, which is an old recording in Lido, showing Armaan, Sanjay and a third man – and Rosie. Temur remembers that Rosie was hurt very badly and he had to secretly bring a doctor to Shashi’s room. Shashi had warned Temur against telling this to anybody. Temur now blackmails Sanjay over the phone, and he takes the bait. It is now revealed that Rosie and Temur are apparently working together over some con. Later when Surjan meets Rosie again, she reveals that she met Armaan once long ago, although it was his friend Nikhil who had picked her up for himself. On an impulse, Surjan goes to meet Nikhil, but learns that Nikhil got in an accident three years ago, that has left him in a vegetative state.
The same day, Surjan also learns that Roshni and Frenny are secretly holding séances to meet Karan, and that Roshni has not taken her medications for a long time. Another fight ensues between him and Roshni, during which she accuses him of cheating. Despite being hurt by the accusations, Surjan doesn’t retaliate. This time, Rosie tells him to save Mallika. Next day, Surjan saves her, upon which Mallika tells him whatever she knows about Shashi, Armaan and Temur. Next day, Sanjay is called on the Church Gate Station to drop off the money. Temur succeeds in decamping with the money and handling it to Nirmala, but Sanjay's goons accost and beat him up at a construction site, upon which he confesses the truth to them, although he doesn’t reveal anything about the money.
Sanjay orders the goons to kill Temur, which they promptly do and leave him to die. Temur somehow gets up, only to see Rosie, who is apparently mad at him for double crossing her. Temur pleads for forgivance, but plummets to his death from the floor accidentally. The workers at the site spot the goons in process of running away. Temur’s shooter is rendered unconscious when he slips from the steps and is arrested by Surjan. Surjan also learns that Temur took name of one Simran before dying. Based on the confession by the shooter, Surjan promptly takes his men to Sanjay’s home and confronts him. Sanjay now reveals that three years ago, Nikhil, whose birthday was being celebrated by Sanjay and Armaan, decided to hire an escort from Lido. It is revealed that the escort Simran was none other than Rosie.
In an unexpected turn of events, Nikhil and Simran got thrown out of the car and on the road. Armaan panicked and tried to ferry the duo to hospital, but Sanjay became afraid that they might be arrested for solicitation. They called Shashi and apprehended him of the situation. Some days later, Shashi sent them the surveillance tape from Lido and told them that Simran was dead, thus starting their blackmail. Surjan is surprised to see Rosie and infers that Shashi and Rosie were duping Armaan and Sanjay for money, although he doesn’t understand why Rosie/Simran would help him. While Sanjay is being taken to the police station, Surjan suddenly spots “Simran” in back seat of his van in the rear view mirror.
Surjan looks back, but nobody is there. However, his action causes the van to swerve and Sanjay to panic – especially since “Simran” has suddenly appeared on the road out of nowhere. Sanjay swerves the van, causing it to be flung into the water, just as Armaan’s car did. In water, Surjan finds that Sanjay has died and he himself is trapped in his van. As he frantically tries to open the van, “Simran” reappears and rescues him. With Sanjay dead, Surjan realizes that he was being helped by Simran's ghost all along to bring the people responsible for her death to book.
Surjan goes back one last time to the spot where he and Simran used to hang out. He correctly deduces that she was buried nearby. After finding out the location, he digs that spot and finds a skeleton with Rosie’s ring on it. Surjan cremates her body properly in secret. Back at home, Surjan finds a letter addressed to him by his son. Surjan goes to the spot where Karan died and starts reading the letter. In the letter, Karan urges him to let go his guilt. As a teary eyed Surjan sits there, Roshni comes there and they reconcile.
